International Study Tour
“I joined the staff of BRTC in 1993, having traveled a
wandering route before settling on my present career. I am a native of Pocahontas, and I graduated from ASU with a
B.A. degree in French, then lived for a time in Germany, where I studied and
acquired a love for that language. In
between caring for my three daughters, I returned to ASU for an MA degree in
English.
I spent several years working part time as Assistant Editor
for the Pocahontas Star Herald, and I began working as a freelance
writer, something I continue to do today. Following a couple of years of work as
Marketing Director at Randolph County Medical Center, I began teaching as an
adjunct instructor, first at Williams Baptist College and then at ASU. I also
completed a second master’s degree, this one an MA in German Studies from
University of Albuquerque earned in a total immersion language program at Taos,
New Mexico, over the course of five summers.
When I had the opportunity to come to work at BRTC, I knew
I finally had found my niche. While
here, I have worked as a full-time instructor, as Division Chair for General
Education, and as Director of Planning and Assessment, my current position.
In 2000, I completed my doctorate in Educational Leadership at ASU.
My husband, Ken, and I like to spend our spare time
traveling, line dancing, working together in our yard, and entertaining friends
and family, including our “blended” family of our parents, six children,
and five grandchildren.”
