LIBRARY INFORMATION FOR CURRENTLY ENROLLED ONLINE STUDENTS
April 2004
From: Mrs. Ulmer, Library Director
Black River
The library’s webpage address is:
http://library.blackrivertech.edu
Log on to the webpage and click on “online catalog” and follow the directions to access the BOOK collection. We can mail you the book(s) that you need if you are unable to visit the library in person; however, you will need to first make arrangements to obtain a Student ID card in Student Services at the Pocahontas campus. The library card must then be activated in the BRTC Library, meaning that we attach a barcode to the back of the card for identification purposes. You will be responsible for return postage for all books borrowed. Maximum time for keeping the books is one month. E-mail me at ermau@blackrivertech.edu to request book loans, giving the title and author of the book(s).
FirstSearch’s WorldCat can be used to create interlibrary loan requests.
(Please note that all library records must be cleared at the end of each semester or term before grades can be received, transcripts sent, etc.)
For MAGAZINE/JOURNAL/NEWSPAPER ARTICLES:
Passwords are needed to access the library’s subscription online products, where students have access to thousands of magazines, journals, and newspapers. Just click on “databases” to see the selection of databases available to students. Passwords (for the databases that require them) can be attained at Blackboard's "Student Lounge" area, or you may e-mail or call the library. The databases are quite easy to use, but e-mail or phone us if you experience difficulties.
Take time to acquaint yourself with all the products listed on the "database" link. You'll find lots of good information!
