NURSING DEPARTMENT ADMISSION

 

ADMISSION PROCEDURE:

 

  1. All inquires are encouraged to place their name on applicant  list with Dana Clay in Joe R. Martin Health/Science building by picking up an application and returning to her by the deadline. After Ms. Clay receives your application, you will be placed on the applicant list.

  2. Notification of Nursing Entrance Test dates by Dana Clay at extension 4150, to those selected. There is a $20.00 fee for this test.                                                                                                       FYI: To purchase a study guide for the Nursing Entrance Test (NET) see www.eriworld.com for information.  This is the testing organization that BRTC uses for our NET exams. 

  3. Meet & Greet:  This is for you and your "support group" will be held the semester before program begins.  Each applicant on Ms. Clay's list will be given information regarding this event.

  4. Letter of acceptance to those who have the top  scores.

  5.  Letter of alternates telling them of their rank in the alternate list.

  6. Letters will be sent for acceptance, alternate, or denial.

  7. Orientation Sessions (usually held Friday before regular classes begin each semester)

 

These procedures are begun as soon as a class is accepted.  Applications are due by October 31st for Spring (January) class and April 1st for Fall (August) class.

 

All inquires have opportunity to talk with school counselors and/or nursing personnel.

 

Prerequisites:    Updated Spring 2005  *Must be taken within 5 years of applying to program.

Basic Human Nutrition

Introduction to Computer Concepts

Freshman English I

Intermediate Algebra or an Asset or ACT score for College Algebra.

            You will not be required to take Intermediate Algebra if you have scored high enough for placement into College Algebra.
