REQUIREMENTS:
Attendance: Students are expected to attend class
regularly and to be punctual in order to complete satisfactorily this
course. If a student is absent, the
student is responsible for making up any missed work and obtaining any lecture
notes. Excessive absenteeism may result in loss of credit for the course. Excessive is defined as two times
the number of times the class meets per week.
Class Participation and Behavior: Class participation is a vital part of the
learning environment. Therefore, each
student is expected to participate in classroom discussions, answer questions,
and offer input. Students are expected
to behave in a professional manner while in class. In accordance with college rules, food and beverages are not
permitted in the classroom.
Cell
phones and pagers are to be turned off during class hours.
Computer Time: Approximately ten to fifteen hours per week
of computer time outside of class is recommended to complete assignments and to
master the various applications.
Exams and Make-ups: The exams may consist of two parts: theory and practical. The theory portion may consist of
true/false, multiple choice, short answer, or essay questions. The practical portion of the exam will
consist of a hands-on exercise. The exams will be timed and each student will
be expected to turn in the exam (or exercise) when time is called. The instructor reserves the right to deviate
from the described test format. Test
results and scores will only be distributed in class after the tests have been
graded; usually, this is the next scheduled class period. Final grades are mailed out by the
registrar's office, and mid-term and final grades are posted on Campus Connect.
Do not call the college or the instructor for your grades; your
grade will be assessed a 10 percent penalty if you contact the instructor about
your final grade before grades are posted.
Students will
not be allowed to retake an exam for any reason.
If a student
misses a scheduled exam, the student must schedule a mutually convenient time
with the instructor for the make-up exam.
Only one missed exam will be permitted per semester per subject.
Late Assignments: Any assignment
turned in late will be assessed a 10% penalty if turned in by the following
class. If the assignment is not turned
by the following class time, the student will be given a 0 for that
assignment. The assignment is termed
late if the assignment is not handed in when the instructor calls for them.
STUDENT ASSESSMENT:
Assessment Points:
100 points each exam
50 points collected
and graded assignments
Academic Dishonesty Policy: Cheating will not be tolerated. The first offense will result in an
"F" for that grade and the second offense may result in dismissal
from the course.
